WHAT ARE THE COOKIES?

Cookies and other similar technologies –such as local shared objects, flash cookies or pixels– are tools used by web servers in order to store and recover information about their users over time, as well as to offer a proper functioning of the web site.

By using these devices, the web server is allowed to remember some information concerning users, such as their preferences about the visualization of the server’s sites, user name and password, products or services the user is more interested in, etc.

COOKIES AFFECTED BY REGULATIONS AND EXEMPT COOKIES

According to the EU Directive, cookies that require the user’s informed consent are analytics, advertisement and affiliation ones. Thereby all those cookies with a technical nature, those necessary for the functioning of the web site, or for the provision of those services specifically requested by the user are excepted.

WHAT KINDS OF COOKIES ARE THERE AND CAN BE USED ON THIS WEBSITE

Regarding the types of cookies, there are five big groups:

  • Analytics cookies: they gather information about how users interact with our website.
  • Third-party cookies: cookies necessary to access content from external providers – social networks.
  • Member cookies: they allow keeping track of those visits coming from other web sites; there is a partnership agreement between both web sites (company affiliation).
  • Behavioral and advertising cookies: they gather information about the user’s personal preferences and elections (retargeting).
  • Operational and technical cookies: they are strictly necessary for the functioning of the web site and for delivering the service engaged.
  • WITHDRAWAL OF THE CONSENT TO INSTALL COOKIES/ REMOVING COOKIES FROM YOUR DEVICE

Chrome

  1. Select the tools icon
  2. Click settings.
  3. Click Show Advanced Options.
  4. On the section “Privacy” click on Content Settings.
    • Delete cookies: click on all cookies and website data…
    • Do not allow storing cookies.
  5. Click Delete browsing data (clearing the cache).
  6. Close and restart the browser.

Internet Explorer

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options.
  2. Click General tab.
  3. – In the Browsing history section, click Delete browsing history when exiting.
  4. Select Delete files.
  5. Select Delete cookies.
  6. Click Delete.
  7. Click Accept.
  8. Close and restart the browser.

Firefox

  1. Select Firefox | History | Clear recent history.
  2. Next to “Details”, click on the down arrow.
  3. Select the following check boxes: Cookies, Cache, active logins.
  4. By using “Time interval to delete” on the drop-down menu, click All.
  5. Click on Delete now.
  6. Close and restart the browser.

You can individually accept or refuse cookies on Firefox Preferences, in the section available History in Tools > Options > Privacy.

Safari

  1. Select the Safari icon / Edit | Reset Safari.
  2. Select the following check boxes: Delete history, Delete all web site data.
  3. Click on Reset.
  4. Close and restart the browser.

Opera

Options – Advanced – Cookies.

‘Cookie options’ controls the way in which Opera manages them and therefore their acceptance o refusal.

Other browsers

Check the documentation of the browser installed in your computer.
